Circa 14th -15th Centuries

The hounskull, or houndskull, helmet has a snoutlike visor attached to a bascinet. This version has a round shape that was designed to deflect blows from any angle. The edges of the conical Bascinet are lined with drilled studs for attaching a mail aventail if you wish. Made with a cloth canvas liner for comfort and has a chin strap. The visor is secured with an adjustable leather strap and that wraps around the back of the neck. The visor can be removed if you want to wear the helmet open-faced. Hand-forged 18 gauge steel. Made by Noble Armoury.
